The tour starts with an entertaining story of how the Nova Scotia wine industry came to be on our way to the first stop, Blomidon Estate Winery. This winery opened to the public in 2007 and is nestled on the shores of the Minas Basin (highest tides in the world) allowing for the perfect growing conditions for making sparkling wines. They were also the first to plant and successfully grow Chardonnay grapes in Nova Scotia. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a tour of the vineyard and an explanation on how Traditional Method sparkling wines are made (the same process used in Champagnes)! Sample three of their best selling wines at the tasting bar and then enjoy local cheeses and charcuterie on the patio while taking in the views of the gorgeous Minas Basin!
Then it’s off to Planters Ridge Winery for an in-depth “grape to bottle” cellar tour to find out how the wines are made followed by a wine tasting in their gorgeous barrel room.
Finally, we’ll stop at Barrelling Tide Distillery for a tour of the production area to explain the spirit making process and then do a tasting of their award-winning spirits and fruit liqueurs!
