The Tidal Bay Wine Tasting AdventureTOUR
New for the 2017 season! Experience all facets of the vibrant Nova Scotia wine industry on the Tidal Bay Wine Tasting Adventure! Visit three award-winning wineries, enjoy in-depth tours of the vineyards and cellars, complete with private wine tastings at each winery featuring our signature wine Tidal Bay! Tidal Bay is the first wine appellation for North America. These blended wines are crisp, aromatic white wines, displaying the unique characteristics of our cool climate region and pair perfectly with the local seafood we’re known for. The name Tidal Bay was inspired by the influence of the sea on all of the wineries located across the province.
On this exclusive wine tour, guests will be taken on an adventure for the taste buds that not only features our local wines but also includes food sourced from local ingredients from the very best food producers in the Annapolis Valley!! The first winery guests will visit is Blomidon Estate Winery for a charcuterie plate paired with a glass of Tidal Bay overlooking the spectacular Minas Basin where the highest tides in the world occur! Then guests will learn the wine making process during a “behind-the-scenes” tour of the cellar followed by a wine tasting.
Then it’s on to Nova Scotia’s oldest established winery, Domaine de Grand Pre where guests will enjoy a private vineyard tour and wine tasting. The flight of wines will feature local grape varieties of L’Acadie Blanc, Seyval Blanc, Muscat and Ortega, all grapes used in Grand Pre’s Tidal Bay to see how they taste on their own compared to in the blend. Then guests will enjoy a traditional Lobster dinner created by Chef Jason Lynch of Le Caveau, top 20 winery restaurant of the world.
The evening finishes at charming Gaspereau Vineyards where you’ll sample three different Tidal Bay wines (Gaspereau Vineyards, Jost Vineyards and Mercator Wines all owned by Devonian Coastal Wineries). Taste the difference in these Tidal Bay wines and see how the “terrior” of each vineyard and the combination of grapes makes three very different wines. Then watch the sun set over the vineyard while listening to live local musicians (July 15 and August 12 only) as you savour a decadent dessert paired with Nova Scotia’s famous Icewine!
