THIRSTY THURSDAY TOUR
UNCORKING QUALITY – IT’S WHAT WE DO!
On our THIRSTY THURSDAY wine tour, you’ll escape to the Annapolis Valley to learn all about our amazing libations industry, taste wines, craft beer, cider, spirits and liqueurs and enjoy delicious bites along the way!
The tour starts with an entertaining story of how the Nova Scotia wine industry came to be on our way to the first stop, Planter’s Ridge Winery. Here, you’ll have a private tour of the vineyard, wine cellar and barrel room while tasting award-winning wines. You hear how grapes are grown, how wine is made and learn how barrels impact the taste of wine. Then enjoy a glass of wine paired with a tasting board on the deck while enjoying the view over the vineyard. (Tasting board is your choice of a cheese board, a smoked salmon board or a mixed board of cheese/meats/nuts. One board per couple to be ordered at time of booking.)
Then it’s onto Beausoleil Farmstead. This cidery/winery opened just recently in 2020 and is creating amazing vinous ciders – a movement that started on the west coast. Melanie Eelman blends Annapolis Valley heritage apples with Nova Scotia cool climate grapes to produce delicious wine ciders. Open by appointment only, we’ll have the place to ourselves!
Our third stop is Wayfarer’s Ale Society. Learn about how the Wayfarers’ Ale Society began their journey as brewers, and get an in-depth explanation on how beer is brewed. Each tour will include a tasting of 4 or 5 of the beers paired with your choice of a warm Spinach and Artichoke Dip with Naan or Nacho Chips and Salsa. Located on the banks of the tidal Chijekwtook (Cornwallis) River, it’s a great place to watch the river fill and empty, which it does twice a day courtesy of the world’s highest tides.
Finally, we’ll finish at Barrelling Tide Distillery for a tour of the facility to learn how spirits are distilled and a tasting of award-winning vodka, gin, rum and amazing fruit liqueurs. You’ll even get inspiration for recipes to make unique cocktails!
